On September 13th, ULALABS researchers from Linköping University participated in the third edition of the Terra Viva festival, a dynamic event celebrating sustainability, innovation, and community engagement. The festival was held in Ebbepark – a forward-thinking urban district in Linköping and the home of our ULALABS partner, Testbed Ebbepark.

The festival brought together local exhibitors, sustainability advocates, researchers and curious citizens to explore smarter, kinder ways of living.

At the ULALABS booth, visitors were invited to reflect on their experiences of heat and greenery in Linköping by placing stickers on a large city map. It also provided opportunties to engage in meaningful conversations about the neighbourhood as a testbed for sustainable urban development.

As a key partner in ULALABS, Testbed Ebbepark provides a unique real-world environment for testing and co-developing sustainable solutions. The district is designed to support innovation in housing, mobility, public space, and community engagement.

The Terra Viva Festival featured also:

  • Exhibitions from local businesses and organizations focused on circular economy, upcycling, and eco-friendly living

  • Talks and workshops on sustainable lifestyles

  • A second-hand fashion show and clothing swap station

  • Family-friendly activities including crafts, games, and shared art installations

The Terra Viva Festival gave us a valuable opportunity to engage directly with Linköping residents and gain insights into their everyday experiences of urban life.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and contributed to the conversation!
